Das Ansichtenwerk war ursprünglich als Teil einer fünfbändigen History of the Principal Rivers of Great Britain geplant, das Unternehmen wurde jedoch nach Erscheinen des ersten Bandes eingestellt. Hier wohl eines der späteren Exemplare der ersten Ausgabe, in denen der Haupttitel der geplanten Reihe s owie eine Widmung an Georg III. nicht mehr beigefügt sind. - Zu Beginn beider Bände jeweils eine Karte des Flußlaufs. Die Ansichten nach J. Farington gestochen von J. C. Stadler zeigen Windsor (div.), Cirencester, Blenheim, Oxford (div.), Abingdon, Reading, Strawberry Hill, London mit Richmond, Battersea, Chelsea, Tower, Black Friars Bridge etc., Greenwich, Rochester, Chatham, Upnor u. a.; die drei doppelblattgroßen Tafeln zeigen den Blick auf London von Lambeth und von Greenwich Park aus und Rochester mit Chatham.

EINBAND: Neue Halbmaroquinbände mit breiten Lederecken, etw. Goldprägung und Kopfgoldschnitt. 42 : 32,5 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit gestochenem Frontispiz, 2 gefalteten Kupferkarten und 76 kolorierten Aquatintatafeln (3 doppelblattgroß). - KOLLATION: XIV S., 1 Bl., 312 S.; 3 Bll., 294 S. - ZUSTAND: Gering stockfleckig, die Aquatintatafeln wie üblich mit leichtem Abklatsch.

Later issue without the main title of the originally planned larger work "History of the Principal Rivers of Great Britain" and the dedication for George III. With engr. frontispiece, 2 folding engr. maps and 76 col. aquatint plates (3 double page). New half morocco with gilt edges. 2 vols. - Only minimally foxed, the aquatint illustrations offsetting as usual.
