Aufwendige Veröffentlichung des Athener Benaki Museums mit prachtvollen Tafeln von Nicolas Sperling mit griechischen Kostümdarstellungen, die ausführlich im Textband von Angeliki Hadzimichaeli erläutert werden. "The rich collection of national costumes in the Benaki Museum forms a complete series in which all the most characteristic styles of Greek dress are fully represented - that of peasants of the plains; of the shepherds of the mountains, of the townsfolk and of the islanders." (S. 22). Die Veröffentlichung dieses ambitionierten Projektes war mit großen technischen Problemen versehen, bereits 1933 hatte man mit der Drucklegung der Tafeln begonnen. Der Miniaturist H. Sperling verstarb noch vor dem Erscheinen des ersten Bandes im Jahr 1947.
